We did this trip with our good friend David E. who lives in Chiang Mai. Primarily we did the roads in the very northern reaches of Laos, where we had not been able to go with our BMW1150RT road touring bike while riding in Laos last March. From our home here in Chiang Khong, on the Mekong River it was just a short ferry ride across the river and then off up into Northern Laos. From the Mekong River to the China border it is only, just over 200 kilometers. Most all the road construction in these photos are of the roads being built by the Chinese to access Laos down to the Mekong river crossing and then here into Thailand via a new bridge that will soon be under way.
